MWB/LB-83 : INTRODUCTION TO BALLISTICS: Interior, Transitional, Exterior and Terminal.

This course will discuss the Interior Ballistics of guns, their operation and capabilities, transition from guns to air, vacuum or other media, exterior ballistic and final, terminal ballistic performance against variable targets.

Explosively Formed Penetrators and Shaped Charges will be discussed, as well as various Kinetic Energy type long and short (high and low length/diameter ratio) penetrators.

Projectile and sabot design will aslo be discussed, as will certain conditions for collecting accurate data.

Velocities up to 13,000 feet/second and internal gun pressures up to 210 KPSI. Light Gas and rail Guns (Electro Magnetic Launchers will be covered to some extent.

Environmental considerations will be covered in the new wave of laws and regulations for testing, transportation and handling of explosives.
